Video Gaming Funk

You ever just sit there playing a game and then lose interest? Not because the game is bad or boring but because of reasons unknown. Crawls in you just don’t know what to do or how to feel. That sounds like video gaming funk! I’m sure we all been through it.

So what is video gaming funk? Depends on how you look at it I guess. Some attribute it to playing a game and not progressing how they would like to progress. Others may think that it’s they can’t decide what video game to play. Oh so many games but what to choose? Another funk and the one that I mainly associate with is interest in playing a game. Again this is not because the game is boring or bad, Just comes out of nowhere? Can you try and put it into words? I’m not sure.

My thinking of this article came when I was playing a game myself. NHL 18 in fact. I have some created teams and players and I just mess around it’s quite fun really. I was in the middle of playing and then all of a sudden I was like “Meh….I don’t really feel it now” Is it because of the game I was playing? Well then I couldn’t muster up anything else to play either. I set the controller down turned off the system and just sat there. I wasn’t upset or anything I was just relaxing I guess.

I’ve had a few times in a game where I was trying to figure out a puzzle, What to do next in the game and then something comes over me like a funk. Can’t figure it out done with the game maybe almost to never be heard of again. Months later you wonder hmm that game I was stuck in maybe I can try and again and push through. That moment you do it and break the funk! It’s an amazing feeling. You can now progress on the game as you were!

How do you guys choose that game to play? Looks fun? Story looks good? Game play seems pretty good? Then what if your having that time “Well I want to play something but what….I’ve played this…I’ve played that…Eh not really in the mood for this or that…Oh what to play” This one no matter how I look at it every which way, Even I can’t figure it out. I think it’s just a natural thing that happens, Something in you is just saying your gamed out for now come back later.

Today’s quick article just focuses on some gaming funk. What about you? Whats your funk and how do you break it?

  1. Been there! With me it’s often stuck on trying to figure out a puzzle or trouble finding the last item needed for a quest. Drives me crazy! Then l can’t be stuffed with it for a while. Will sometimes leave it for a couple of days….or stop playing the game altogether. One way out of the issue is l go looking online for a solution or run through of the area to see if l can find the missing bit. If so I’m often back into my game….at least until the next big hurdle LOL!

  2. I get gaming funks all the time. I had stopped playing Spider-Man for ps4 for a few months and had neber finished it. I don’t know why I just did. I couldn’t get back into it. Then all of a sudden last week I threw it on and I played in 4-6 hr sessions over the next few days and beat the game. It was an amazing game and I’m so glad I went back to it.
